The Festival Organisers engage services of volunteers carefully selected prior the event.

To adequately deliver on the annual event, and to make it truly cerebral, workshop sessions are organised. Thus, facilitators are solicited and brought from within and outside the state.

Poets and Artists

Poets and Artists are solicited and invited to add flavour to the event.

Calabar Welcomes

Day one of the event is specially reserved for residents of Calabar to welcome participants from all over the country and across the oceans. This session promotes cultural displays and poetry renditions in the local languages/dialects.

Local Organising Committee

To drive the preparation for the festival, a Local Organising Committee headed by a Chairman is put in place.

Festival Poetry Calabar could be the biggest literary festival South South Nigeria if necessary supports or partnerships are received.

It is envisioned to receive renown national and international poets who will attend and also use the opportunity in attending the Carnival Calabar.

Festival Poetry Calabar is a tourism pull for Cross River State, thus contributing to business earnings in the hospitality industry. If well supported, it should include on her programme (Sights & Sounds) – visit to key tourism destinations for which Cross River is known.

The Festival has been very rewarding in terms of literary appreciation and enlightenment, especially in the areas of culture and traditions of our people. It hopes to continually deliver towards achieving its vision.
